Private / Individual - living, working and shopping

The market for heat pump installations in single-family housing is booming, which is hardly surprising.  The savings, reduced maintenance costs, and rapid return on investment make geothermal heating and cooling technology a persuasive choice for residential application; especially with non-renewable sources only growing more expensive over time. This contributes to the development of increasingly sophisticated systems for the domestic market.

Private commercial buildings such as in stores, shopping malls, showrooms and office buildings (big or small) stand to gain even more from the switch to a geothermal heating and cooling solution, as climate control is a significant portion of their operational expenditure.

Private, individual geothermal installations confer undeniable economic and aesthetic benefits:

- Reduced noise and aesthetic impact
- Greater occupant comfort, without the health risks of conventional systems
- Significant reduction of operating costs
- Rapid return on investment
- Increased reliability with less maintenance

Applications

Applications with a heating and cooling demand are the most profitable, eg offices, stores, showrooms … The integration of a ground-coupled heat pump provides heat and cold at high efficiencies with small pay-back times.

A sophisticated domestic installation can be realized by combining a ground-coupled heat pump with solar thermal collectors. A great disadvantage of solar thermal energy is the difference between supply and demand. The biggest profit manifests oneself in the summertime, when the heating demand is at its bottom and vice versa. Coupling the solar thermal installation to an underground thermal storage system (and a heat pump), offers the opportunity to store excess heat into the ground for over a season (seasonal storage). This heat can be valorized in wintertime, when the heat demand is at its top.
